Kyrie Irving is no doubt one of the best players in the NBA. The Dallas Mavericks star won the 2016 NBA title with the Cleveland Cavaliers and has one of the most entertaining playing styles in the league.

The guard recently revealed that his signature line with Nike made over $2.6 billion in revenue, saying he is "that guy."

Despite being one of the most popular players in the league, some of his actions have landed him in hot water while he was with the Brooklyn Nets.

His fourth year with the Nets was a turbulent one. He was suspended in November after he posted a documentary with antisemitic themes. He later apologized for his controversial decision.

In December, Nike cut ties with the eight-time All-Star. He angered Brooklyn fans by requesting a trade away from the team.

He has reportedly agreed a deal with Chinese company Anta, which sponsors Klay Thompson.

Irving and Nike

Actor O'Shea Jackson Jr., the son of rapper and actor Ice Cube, asked on Twitter who had the highest-selling shoes apart from Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James.

Irving responded by saying that he is one of them.

"My signature line made the previous brand I was with over 2.6 Billion in Revenue the past 7 years. I can safely say, I am one of them ones out here in the competitive shoe market, dominating. And not to be arrogant, Go Ask around, the kids that grew up wearing/buying my shoes know, respectfully I am that guy because of the Support WORLDWIDE."

The 31-year-old had a signature shoe line since 2014 and is reported to have had a deal with Nike worth more than $10 million a season. His contract with the shoe giant was set to end in October 2023. Since he was suspended, he still wore the Nike sneakers but covered the swoosh with some decorations like this one he posted on Instagram.

Irving returns to Dallas

Sports Brief earlier reported on Irving re-signing with the Dallas Mavericks in free agency.

He signed a three-year, $126 million deal, which has a player option in the third season. Irving will now team up with the Mavericks as they look to challenge for the title after missing the playoffs last season.

The veteran guard joined the Mavericks in February.
