NBANBA Free Agency: Westbrook Returns to Clippers, Rockets Sign Dillon Brooks and Other Deals
- Dillon Brooks has agreed on a massive deal with the Houston Rockets
- Russell Westbrook is also returning to the Los Angeles Clippers
- Donte DiVincenzo also agreed a four-year deal with the New York Knicks
Dillon Brooks has a new home. The former Memphis Grizzlies guard is set to sign with the Houston Rockets in a four-year deal worth $80 million.
Brooks has spent his entire six-year NBA career with the Grizzlies, but last season was one of his most controversial.
According to Shams Charania, the deal could potentially turn into a sign-and-trade with the Memphis Grizzlies.
Brooks grabbed the headlines for the wrong reasons in the 2022/23 season. He has had run-ins with many NBA players, something which has earned him many enemies. For instance, he hit Donovan Mitchell in the groin area, clashed with Draymond Green, and mocked LeBron James.
However, his great defensive performance earned him Second-Team All-Defense honors. He is still one of the best wing defenders in the NBA, but his offense let him down last season. He could rediscover that with Houston, but he brings elite defense on one of the worst defenses in the NBA.
Westbrook re-signs with Clippers
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, veteran point guard Russell Westbrook returning to the Los Angeles Clippers on a two-year deal worth almost $8 million.
After a turbulent season with the Los Angeles Lakers last season, he was moved to the Utah Jazz and then found his way to the Clippers, where he redeemed himself with a great performance in the postseason.
The 2017 NBA MVP still has glaring flaws. This has prevented him from attracting more teams, and it remains to be seen what role he will play.
D'Angelo Russell also re-signed with the Lakers on a two-year, $37 million deal with a player option on the second season.
