NBANBA Free Agency: Kyrie and Green Re Sign, Grant, VanVleet and Bane Land Huge Deals
- This year's NBA free agency has seen interesting moves from players and teams
- Fred VanVleet, Tyrese Haliburton, and Jerami Grant signed some of the biggest deals
- Kyrie Irving returned to the Dallas Mavericks, while Draymond Green, Khris Middleton, and Kyle Kuzma returned to their teams on new deals
Kyrie Irving, Draymond Green, Khris Middleton, and Kyle Kuzma were some of the big stars who returned to their teams as free agency opened.
After weeks of anticipation, Irving re-signed with the Dallas Mavericks on a three-year, $126 million deal, which has a player option in the third season. The veteran guard joined the Mavericks in February, and there were doubts among Mavs fans that he could sign with another team.
According to Shams Charania, the deal was negotiated by Irving's stepmother Shetellia Riley Irving, who became the first black woman to negotiate and close an NBA contract.
Marc J Spears reported that Golden State Warriors veteran Draymond Green returned to his team on a four-year $100m deal which includes a player option in the final season.
Green declined his $27.6 million player options with the Warriors on June 19 but now returns as they try and mount a title run.
Another big deal that went down, according to Adrian Wojnarowski, was Khris Middleton agreeing to a three-year $102 million deal to return to the Milwaukee Bucks. Middleton was a key piece for the Bucks when they won the 2021 NBA title.
Wojnarowski also reported that Kyle Kuzma agreed on a four-year, $102M deal to return to the Washington Wizards.
In one of the biggest deals in free agency, Fred VanVleet agreed on a three-year, $130 million contract with the Houston Rockets.
Jerami Grant also agreed on a five-year, $160 million deal to return to the Portland Trail Blazers, per Shams Charania.
