While NBA fans were preparing to see which player their team took in the 2023 NBA Draft, news that Golden State were trading Jordan Poole to Washington for Chris Paul sent shockwaves through the league.

Paul and Stephen Curry, the two best points guards of this generation, have a chance to team up. The former Phoenix Suns point guard is looking forward to playing alongside Curry.

The Warriors sent Poole, Ryan Rollins, a protected first-round pick in 2030, and a second-rounder in 2027 to the Wizards for the veteran point guard. Paul was also recently traded to the Wizards from Phoenix.

Paul, who will turn 39 next year, is looking to cap off a tremendous career with an NBA title. The Warriors thwarted his title hopes twice.

In 2018, the 2022 NBA champions erased a 3-2 deficit against Paul's Houston Rockets in the Western Conference finals as they marched to the title. In 2019, the Warriors eliminated Paul and the Rockets in the West semis, per USA Today.

Steve Kerr's team are looking to maximize Curry's championship window. Poole struggled in the playoffs months after he was punched by his teammate, Draymond Green, in October last year.

Paul's reaction Warriors' trade

After battling each other for years, the two will finally team up - and Paul can't wait.

"Excited," Paul said when he was asked his feelings about the trade. "I've got that question I don't know how many times already. So, I'm really excited."

The former LA Clippers star also revealed he had a conversation with Curry.

Paul had a rough 2022/23 season with Phoenix. He averaged a career-low 13.9 points per game to go along with 8.9 assists and 4.3 rebounds in 59 games. He is expected to anchor the Warriors' second unit, giving him a lighter workload.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder star has started all 1,214 regular-season games he’s played, averaging 17.9 points, 9.5 assists, and 4.5 rebounds per game, per the Athletic.

Green: Warriors dynasty not over

Sports Brief earlier reported on Green saying the Warriors dynasty is not over yet, contrary to what some experts and critics believe.

The core of Curry (35), Thompson (33), and Green (33) are not getting any younger, but he is confident they have a lot left in the tank.

The Golden State dynasty has won four NBA titles from nine seasons and are looking to make another run at the title next season.
