- The Spurs selected him with the No. 1 pick in the draft
Victor Wembanyama has not played a single game in the NBA, but we're already seeing San Antonio Spurs jerseys with his name ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft this week.
The young Frenchman was spotted in a video signing a Spurs jersey with his name, leaving no doubt that he will be selected No. 1 overall by the Spurs in the draft.
The Spurs won the Draft Lottery last month, and the five-time NBA champions went on to select the 19-year-old highly-rated prospect with the No. 1 pick on Thursday night.
Wembanyama is regarded as the most hyped prospect since LeBron James, and he is expected to light up the NBA once he steps on the floor. His season with Metropolitans 92 in France ended after they were swept in the French League finals by Monaco in the best-of-five series, per CBS Sports.

The youngster also recently said the Spurs have the best fanbase in the NBA after a Spurs fan got a haircut with Wembanyama's face as the design. It seems he already knows where he'll land later this week.
The next time he wears a jersey, it will be for San Antonio. The Spurs have selected Hall of Famer David Robinson and Tim Duncan with the first pick in the past.
Wembanyama on France-Spurs connection
Sports Brief earlier reported on Wembanyama explaining the special connection France share with the San Antonio Spurs.
Boris Diaw and Tony Parker won titles with the Spurs, with Parker claiming four titles and Finals MVP honors in 2007.
Wembanyama confirmed there was a special relation and said most, if not all of France wanted the Spurs to pick first.
