Los Angeles Lakers legend Shaquille O'Neal has said LeBron James deserves a statue for winning the 2020 NBA championship with the Lakers.
Many people have questioned the legitimacy of James and Lakers' 2020 title because they won it in the Orlando "Bubble" at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In his five seasons with the Lakers, the 38-year-old has achieved a lot. He brought the NBA title for the first time since 2010 and became NBA's all-time leading scorer in February, wearing the purple and gold.
In 2017, the Lakers unveiled a statue for O'Neal won three NBA titles with them. He played for the franchise from 1996-2004. The big man is the only player besides Michael Jordan to win three straight NBA Finals MVP awards.
Lakers legends Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Jerry West have statues, per SI.

Bally Sports' Brandon Robinson asked O'Neal about James potentially getting his own statue outside of Crypto.com Arena.
"So, LeBron is one, as a Laker. He broke the [scoring] record as a Laker. Would I oppose him having a statue? I would not. If they wanna give him a statue, I'd be fine with that. Great player, great for the league. And he did what he was supposed to do as a Laker," via Sportskeeda.
There were mixed reactions from fans who feel the late Kobe Bryant should have a statue first. Others felt James doesn't deserve a statue. O'neal called some Lakers fans greedy.
"But the thing about the Lakers is that Laker fans are real greedy, Okay you got us this bubble championship, but when are you going to give us another? It’s always that.”

Sports Brtief earlier reported on LeBron James hinting at retirement after the Lakers were swept in the Western Conference finals.
He has played 20 years in the NBA and turns 39 in December, leaving fans with a cryptic message which raised many questions.
"I got a lot to think about, to be honest. Just personally, with me moving forward with the game of basketball, I got a lot to think about."
