NBAJamal Murray Wants to Silence Denver Nuggets Doubters
- Jamal Murray doesn't care if the Denver Nuggets don't get any attention in the playoffs
- Murray and the Nuggets have had a dominant postseason, but most of the narratives are about the Lakers
- The point guard produced a clutch performance in Game 2 to give the Nuggets a commanding 2-0 lead
Denver Nuggets point guard Jamal Murray is not bothered by people who keep underestimating his team, who are 2-0 up in their best-of-seven series against the Los Angeles Lakers in the Western Conference finals.
The Nuggets were the top seed in the West and have proved why they are the best team in the West. They erased a double-digit deficit to win Game 2 108-103.
In Game 2, Murray struggled to get going in the first three quarters. He shot 12-of-17 and scored just 14 points. However, he stepped up when his team needed him the most.
In the fourth quarter, he scored 23 points to help his team take a commanding lead as the series shifts to Los Angeles. He added 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.
His partner in crime, Nikola Jokic, is also having a great postseason.
Much of the narrative in the Western Conference finals has been the Lakers and what adjustments they need to make. This has rubbed Nuggets coach Michael Malone the wrong way. He feels the media should talk more about Jokic, who is now averaging a triple-double in the playoffs.
Murray not concerned about doubters
In 13 playoff games, Murray is averaging 27.2 points. He is not bothered by the lack of attention to their team.
"We're the Denver Nuggets; we're used to that," Murray said. "Even when we win, they talk about the other team. We beat the Clippers in the bubble, they talk about the other team. Same old, same old. It fuels us a little more and will be sweeter when we win the chip," via ESPN.

Other SportsJokic, who finished with 23 points, 17 rebounds, and 12 assists, said Murray won them the game.
"In the first half, he struggled to make shots. But when it mattered the most, he made shots and won us the game basically."
LeBron James and Austin Reaves had 22 points each, while Anthony Davis added 18 points for the Lakers, per the Athletic.
Malone blasts media
Sports Brief earlier reported on the Nuggets coach blasting the media for focusing on the Lakers' adjustments instead of Jokic's heroics.
After Game 1, the postgame discussion was about how the Lakers switched Rui Hachimura on Jokic to allow Anthony Davis to roam the paint.
"The narrative wasn't about Nikola. … You put that in your pipe, you smoke it. And you come back, and you know what, we're gonna go up 2-0."
