Stephen Curry has come to the defense of teammate Jordan Poole following a forgettable Game 4 performance vs. the Lakers, which the Golden State Warriors lost 101-104.

Poole played 10 minutes and scored zero points, missing all four of his shots. He also didn’t play a second in the fourth quarter,

The young guard is averaging only 8 points per game against the Lakers and shooting 35.3 percent in the 2023 playoffs. In this postseason, he is averaging 10.5 points per game and 34.2 percent from the field, and 27.8 percent from 3-point distance, per the Athletic.

All of the Warriors' problems are, of course, not on Poole alone. Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green are experienced players, and responsibility falls on their shoulders.

In Game 4 Curry finished with a triple-double but shot 12-of-30 from the field and made only three of his 14 three-point attempts. Thompson had only 9 points and went 3-of-11 from the field and 3-of-9 from deep, per ESPN.

Curry defends Poole

After the Game, Curry said it is not just about Poole but the whole team.

"There's no sense in isolating him in this situation it's all about collectively what we can all do to be better. We all have to play better."

Poole was heavily criticized after Game 4 and didn't want to talk to reporters. He briefly spoke to the Athletic's Tim Kawakami.

“I’ve got nothing for you.” he said “We’ve got another game in a couple days; it’s at home. So we should get that one done. Work ethic doesn’t change. Routine doesn’t change. Maybe opportunity changes, but you can only control what you can control.”

Is the Warriors' dynasty over?

Sports Brief earlier analyzed if the Warriors dynasty coming to an end after the Game 4 defeat.

Their core, Curry, Thompson, and Green, are almost in their mid-30s, and there has started to show after years in the top level of the NBA.

Unless they come back from 3-1 down, they will have many decisions to make in the upcoming offseason.
