Philadelphia 76ers guard James Harden fulfilled his promise to a shooting survivor on Sunday in Game 4 against the Boston Celtics.
John Hao is a victim of the Michigan State mass shooting in February. The former MVP shared a hug with Hao while doing his pregame routine.
Hao was immobilized from the chest down after the mass shooting on February 13, that killed three people and left four others wounded.
After learning the 20-year-old was a fan, the 33-year-old sent him a jersey and sneakers. He then FaceTimed Hao and told him he wanted to bring him to a game once he gets healthy. On Sunday, he fulfilled his dream.

The 2018 MVP rewarded Hao with a superb display against the Boston Celtics. He finished with 42 points, 9 assists, and 8 rebounds to help the 76ers win 116-115 in overtime. He hit a game-tying shot in regulation and the eventual game-winner in overtime.
Harden gifted him his game-worn sneakers after the game, per Bleacher Report.
Hao is an international student from China and has been recuperating at a Chicago rehabilitation facility since the incident.
Harden fulfills Hao's dreams
Harden said Hao brought him good luck.
“[Hao is] my good luck charm...the tragedy like that that happened,” Harden said. “It’s a lot of nonsense that’s going on in the world... I feel like it’s my job just to give him that light, that smile that he deserves, that he needs,” via Philly Inquirer.

NBAHao revealed Harden was supportive since the incident.
"When I got injured, he read the news about that, he just came to give us all the support we need," said. "I'm so appreciative of that," via AP.
The Sixers star wants Hao to come back for Game 6.
“Game 6, he’s gotta come back,” Harden said on a video posted by the Sixers. “I don’t know what you got going on, what your schedule is. Game 6 you gotta be back here because you’re the good luck charm."
Harden's highest-scoring playoff games
Sports Brief earlier looked at Harden's best playoff games after scoring 45 points against the Celtics.
He scored 45 against the Golden State Warriors in 2015 and 44 against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Harden also dropped 43 against the San Antonio Spurs in 2017 and 41 against the Warriors in 2018.
