Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has jokingly lambasted Klay Thompson's father, Mychal Thompson, for rooting for the Lakers, not their team.
Mychal played for the Lakers 30 years ago and has been working for the franchise for two decades now.
Mychal Thompson suited up for the Lakers for 4 and 1/2 seasons from 1987 to 1991 and won two NBA championships. Klay obviously grew up supporting the Lakers as a child.
The Warriors' shooting guard has said many time Lakers icon, the late Kobe Bryant, was his childhood idol.

It will be an awkward moment for Klay, who will play in front of friends and family in Game 3. The 33-year-old was on fire in Game 2. he drained eight three-pointers as the Warriors crushed the Lakers 127-100.
Kerr lambasts Klay's dad
Kerr said it is odd for a father to go against his child, per NBC Sports.
"I mean, c’mon man. Isn’t blood thicker than water? I can’t imagine cheering against my child. That’s not happening in our family. But apparently, in Klay’s family, Dad is going to root for the Lakers. So that gives Klay a little extra motivation."
Mychal recently said whoever wins the series is great for him.
“Either way, I can’t lose," Thompson said. "If my son wins, I’m thrilled. If the Lakers win, I’m happy," via Sporting Tribune.

Klay wants to honor Kobe and Gigi
Sports Brief earlier reported on Klay Thompson promising to honor Kobe and Gigi Bryant when the Warriors play the Lakers in Games 3 and 4.
The 33-year-old grew up watching the Lakers icon who died in a helicopter crash in 2020.
"I'm a huge Kobe fan, he's my biggest inspiration and I'm just going to play my hardest to honestly honor him and Gigi because without his play and all those years of me viewing his tenacity on the court, I would not be the athlete I am today."
