The future Hall of Famer lost his previous 13 playoff games officiated by Foster prior to the Suns' 123-109 win over the Clippers.

Paul's first Game 7 was officiated by Foster. However, Paul's New Orleans Hornets lost to the San Antonio Spurs in 2008. He has also officiated crucial games involving Paul when he was playing for the Houston Rockets and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Paul on snapping losing streak

In Game 2, Paul was brilliant. He finished with 16 points, four rebounds, and eight assists. He said he doesn't want it to be a distraction as they aim to win an NBA title.

"I didn’t notice," Paul said. "I think we are all about in this run minimizing distractions, you know what I mean. So that is what it is. I’m sure it’s still going to be a thing. The league knows it is. Can’t control it. Haven’t been able to control a lot of other ones, so ain’t going to be able to control it now, you know what I mean. So the game is the game," via SI.

Foster remains a top referee in the eyes of the NBA. However, he has made questionable refereeing decisions in his career. This has attracted criticism from fans on social media.

Foster is officiating in his 29th season. He has been assigned to 23 Finals games and has been a regular on Game 7s. Tuesday's game was his 228th career playoff game, per ESPN.

Westbrook better than Paul?

Sports Brief earlier reported on NBA analyst Shannon Sharpe claiming LA Clippers guard Russell Westbrook has had a better career than Paul.

"I think it's Russ. because when I look at It, I thought Chris Paul would be a great player in the NBA...I thought he would've delivered a championship...I went for Russ because when I watched him in college, and I see what he became, I think he's had a better career."

Westbrook has played in 15 NBA seasons with five teams. He has averaged 22.4 points, 8.4 assists, and 7.3 rebounds in 1,094 regular-season games. He has nine All-Star selections. The Clippers guard has also won an MVP award.

He has played 18 seasons in the NBA and averaged 17.9 points, 9.5 assists, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.1 steals in 1,214 regular-season games.
