2022/23 top 10 shooting guards

10. Dejounte Murray

The Atlanta Hawks have had a stop-start 2022/23 season. They have a 39-39 record and sit 8th in the Eastern Conference. Trae Young is easily their best player, but Murray follows him closely in points per game.

He is averaging 20.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 6.1 assists.

9. CJ McCollum

The veteran shooting guard was part of one of the best backcourts in the NBA alongside Damian Lillard in Portland. He has settled nicely in New Orleans and is averaging 20.8 points.

He's never been an All-Star despite putting up consistent performances in the last few seasons. Apart from his first two seasons, he's never averaged below 20 points in the NBA.

8. Desmond Bane

The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA but have been rocked with on and off-court problems. That hasn't stopped Bane from doing what he does best.

He's averaging 21.4 points and shooting 41% from deep. Only Ja Morant has a better point per game in Memphis.

7. Klay Thompson

Thomspon made an incredible return last season from two career-threatening injuries. He is slowly getting to his best. The 33-year-old Warriors guard is averaging 21.8 points per game.

6. Anthony Edwards

The Timberwolves star has been one of the breakout stars of the 2022/23 season. The 21-year-old made his first All-Star appearance in February and is looking to take his team to the playoffs. He is putting up 24.5 points per game, the best of the team.

5. James Harden

Harden may have fallen off since his Houston Rockets days but he is still an important contributor for the Philadelphia 76ers. He leads the league in assists per game this season (10.8). Can he lead the Sixers to the finals this season?

4. Bradley Beal

Beal is Washington Wizards' best player. He has not played in the postseason as much as he would like but remains one of the best shooting guards. He was close to becoming a scoring champion and is averaging 23.2 points per game this season.

3. Zach LaVine

LaVine reinvented himself after leaving the Timberwolves in 2017. Since that move, he has been a two-time All-Star and is averaging 25.1 points per game.

2. Devin Booker

Booker's 2022/23 season has been disrupted by injuries but he remains one of the best shooting guards in the league.

In 2021, he led the Phoenix Suns to the NBA finals but fell short. With the addition of Kevin Durant, he will surely make another trip to this final stage.

1. Donovan Mitchell

The Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star is the best shooting guard in the league. He is one of the few players in NBA history to have a 70-point game and has made the Cavaliers a serious contender.

He also has 12 40-point games. Only Damian Lillard and Luka Doncic have more, per StatMuse.

Mitchell: Brooks plays dirty

Sports Brief earlier reported on Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star guard, Mitchell accusing Brooks of being dirty on the court.

When the Cavs met the Grizzlies early last month, Brooks appeared to hit Mitchell in the groin, sparking a huge brawl.

The fracas resulted in both players getting ejected from the game and Brooks was later suspended for his actions.
