Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is set to begin a counseling program nearly two weeks after he was seen holding a gun in an Instagram Live video.
The All-Star guard has missed the Grizzlies' last five games. The 23-year-old apologized and vowed to "take responsibility."
The incident at Shotgun Willie’s in Glendale, Colorado, was a culmination of a series of events involving Morant in the last few months. The NBA is investigating the issue, which could result in Morant getting a lengthy suspension, per CBS Sports.
A New York Post exclusive revealed that Morant spent at least $50,000 at the establishment. After conducting an investigation, police decided not to charge the youngster due to a lack of evidence.

Morant to enter counseling program
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Morant has entered a counseling program in Florida, and there's no return timetable.
The Grizzlies announced the guard will be away from the team for at least six games but later stated that there's no timetable for his return to NBA action.
Morant is a two-time All-Star, 2020 rookie of the year, and 2022 most-improved player. He is seen as one of the faces of the league.
The Grizzlies coach was asked if Morant will return this week.
"There are a lot of internal dialogues going on and obviously there’s still things going on at the league level that we’re in communication with. Ja's fully engaged in this process and ready for whatever comes next after these 2 games," via SI.

Jenkins breaks silence on Morant
Sports Brief earlier reported on Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins weighing in on the Morant situation.
He said there's no timetable for the return of their best player but are supporting the youngster as he tries to get help but noted it will be a difficult process.
Jenkins added that they are holding Morant accountable for his actions, and it remains to be seen how long the guard will be out of action.
