Gilbert Arenas Calls Ja Morant a Philanthropist for Spending $50,000 at a Club

Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant is still dealing with the fallout of his actions over a week ago when he flaunted a gun at a gentleman's club.

New details revealed the All-Star guard spent at least $50,000 on two visits to Shotgun Willie’s in Glendale, Colorado. Former NBA star Gilbert Arenas said Morant was a philanthropist for spending that amount at the club.

Since that gun incident on Instagram Live, Morant has not played a single NBA game. The team initially announced he'll be out for two games but later extended it to six.

The Grizzlies superstar received widespread condemnation for his actions. He later apologized, saying he takes "full responsibility." He later deactivated his Twitter and Instagram accounts.

The NBA is still investigating the incident, and multiple reports indicated that he could be suspended for up to 50 games.

A New York Post report revealed girls in Morant's VIP room were "absolutely terrified" of the gun.

Arenas was suspended for 50 games in 2010 for violating NBA's firearm policy while playing for the Washington Wizards, per Sportskeeda.

He weighed in on Morant's situation with a hilarious post on social media. His comments got the fans talking.

"Can all the media outlets apologize to #jamorant for the smear campaign they did by calling him a Thug ! this Family man,hero,Role model ,franchise player,future face of the league and now PHILANTHROPIST ."

The 23-year-old has also been involved in other incidents where police were involved. In the summer, Morant allegedly brought out a gun after a fight with a 17-year-old boy in Morant's backyard, per ESPN.

The other incident was a confrontation with a mall security guard in a parking lot.

Jenkins breaks silence on Morant

Sports Brief earlier reported on Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins weighing in on the Morant situation.

He said there's no timetable for the return of their best player but are supporting the youngster as he tries to get help but noted it will be a difficult process.

Jenkins added that they are holding Morant accountable for his actions and remains to be seen how long the guard will be out of action.
