Michael Jordan may be retired from the NBA, but he hit the headlines a few days ago after his Charlotte Hornets suffered a 117-106 defeat at home to the Orlando Magic.

Jordan was sitting courtside and spotted looking frustrated during the game, perhaps disappointed by how his team played.

Under Jordan, the Hornets are yet to light up the NBA. They have only made the playoffs three times and have not made it past the first round, per Sportskeeda.

They have the fourth-worst record (20-45) in the NBA this season. A few days ago, they were dealt another major blow when franchise cornerstone Lamelo Ball was ruled out for the season with a fractured ankle.

Jordan's reaction to Hornets vs. Magic

With a few minutes left in the third quarter, the Hornets were down 22 points and on their way to their 45th loss of the season. The camera caught Jordan, who looked like a broken man.

Kelly Oubre Jr. had 29 points, ten rebounds, and two assists for the hosts, but it wasn’t enough. Terry Rozier finished with 22 points and six assists, while Gordon Hayward added 17 points and seven assists, per ESPN.

Jordan is considered one of the worst owners in the NBA. Although he is termed the greatest basketball player of all time, that hasn't translated into his ownership with the Hornets.

NBA name MVP award after Jordan

Sports Brief earlier reported on the NBA naming the MVP award after Jordan in honor of arguably the league's greatest-ever player.

Jordan is a five-time winner of the award, with the last one coming in 1998 when he led the Chicago Bulls to their last NBA Championship.

For six decades, the trophy was named after Maurice Podoloff, the league's first commissioner.
