The 34-year-old was traded by the LA Lakers before the trade deadline to the Utah Jazz after a turbulent start to the season. The Jazz then bought him out of his contract.

Westbrook reacts to Clippers debut

Westbrook started the game alongside Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, Marcus Morris Sr., and Mason Plumlee. The Clippers benefitted from Westbrook's passing abilities right away, as he reached the 10-assist mark halfway through the third quarter.

Clippers coach Ty Lue briefly experimented with using Westbrook as a screener, something he didn't do a lot with the Lakers

One issue with Westbrook that many expected was spacing. However, that didn't matter, as the Clippers drained a franchise-record 26 3-pointers at a 57.8 percent clip.

The former Oklahoma City Thunder star was excited to be involved in the crazy game and is ready to do whatever the team needs, per Sporting News.

"Just trying to find ways to be effective while I'm on the floor. And whatever is asked of me, screening, whatever, rolling, handling, whatever that may be. Cutting. Just try to do different things to impact the game and using my IQ to be able to make plays for others," via ESPN.

He reunited with Paul George, who was impressed with his performance.

"The reason why I was high on Russ being a part of this team was because of what he brings, and you saw the flashes of it tonight."

Paul George recruits Westbrook

Sports Brief earlier reported on George openly recruiting Westbrook to join him at the Clippers, with the two playing together during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons.

Lue's team traded Jackson, Wall, and Luke Kennard to acquire Bones Hyland from Denver Nuggets and the Houston Rockets Eric Gordon and Mason Plumlee.

The Los Angeles team has no traditional point guard, and the potential addition of Westbrook could add a new dimension to the Clippers squad.
