NBAWhy Mikal Bridges Is Happy About Trade That Brought Kevin Durant to Phoenix
- Mikal Bridges has admitted that he is not surprised he was traded for Kevin Durant
- Bridges was included in a Phoenix Suns package to Brooklyn that brought Durant and T.J Warren to Phoenix
- The 26-year-old is one of the best two-way wings in the NBA and never missed a game while on the Suns
Kevin Durant almost broke the internet last week when he was traded to the Phoenix Suns from the Brooklyn Nets ending three and a half year spell full of ups and downs.
Durant was sent to Phoenix for a massive package that includes Mikal Bridges, Cameron Johnson, Jae Crowder, four future first-round picks, and a pick swap in 2028. Phoenix also lands T.J. Warren in the deal. Bridges said he would've made that trade.
Bridges, who has been a consistent contributor for the Suns in the last few seasons, did not know the trade was happening until his teammate Damion Lee told him on FaceTime.
The 26-year-old swingman will surely be a big miss for the Suns. He has played 365 consecutive NBA, which is currently the longest streak in the league. He never missed a single game in his Suns' career.

Therefore, his availability will be important for the Nets as they chase a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. He played a crucial role as the Suns reached the 2021 NBA Finals, forming a special bond with the fans.
Bridges on trade to Nets
Bridges was not shocked by that trade and saw it as a sign of respect. However, he said he will miss his teammates and friends in Phoenix.
"It's KD. I get it. I 100 percent get it. That's just how it is. I would rather say I'd rather be happy that I got traded for KD than probably like somebody else who I didn't think would be good or something like that. So just being a realist at the end of the day," via ESPN.
Kyrie Irving blasts Brooklyn Nets after sealing move to Dallas Mavericks
NBABridges is one of the league's best young two-way wings. He's averaging 17.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game while shooting 46.3 percent from the field and 38.7 percent from deep, per Bleacher Report.
The Nets don't have a star after trading Kyrie Irving and Durant but got some good pieces that can trouble top teams in the East and Bridges will surely play a bigger role.
Winners and losers from NBA trade deadline
Sports Brief earlier reported on the trade deadline winners and losers, which ended almost 24 hours ago.
The Suns are obvious winners as they acquired Durant. The Lakers obviously got better. They added shooting, size and versatility.
The Mavericks improved offensively but it remains to be seen if they can survive without great defense.
The Brooklyn Nets lost two elite players in Durant and Irving, therefore they got worse. The Nuggets, who are top of the West may now have to go through the likes of Curry, Durant and James to get to the finals.
