- The 34-year-old played with George from 2017-2019 at the Oklahoma City Thunder
Paul George wants to reunite with his Oklahoma City Thunder teammate at the LA Clippers days after the point guard was traded to the Utah Jazz in a multi-team trade.
The 34-year-old was beginning to thrive in a bench role for the Lakers this season but was moved ahead of the NBA trade deadline last Thursday. The Clippers traded point guards Reggie Jackson and John Wall away.
Ty Lue's team are in their championship window and needs a point guard to pair with the big two of George and Kawhi Leonard. Westbrook, who won the 2017 MVP award, could join the Clippers if he secures a buyout from the Jazz.
According to the Athletic, the Jazz and the guard haven't made a decision yet but the sides have had productive conversations about his future with the team and it remains to be seen how things will unfold for Westbrook.

George on Westbrook
According to ESPN, George has reached out to his former te3ammaTE. The two played together during the 2017/18 and 2018/19 seasons before George requested a trade to the Clippers.
"I mean if there's, you know, somebody out there -- Russell. If it makes sense and obviously it goes with our team, we're all for it. You know, we need a point guard. But you know, [at] the same [time], I think we're good as well. If nothing happened, we got enough in this locker room to be able to make it work."
Lakers trade Patrick Beverley to Orlando Magic for Mo Bamba
NBALue's team traded Jackson and Wall and shooting guard Luke Kennard and acquired guards Bones Hyland from Denver Nuggets and Houston Rockets veteran Eric Gordon and center Mason Plumlee last Thursday.
The Clippers have no traditional point guard and the potential addition of Westbrook could potentially add a new dimension to the team.
Westbrook makes history
Sports Brief earlier reported on Westbrook moving into the top 10 in the NBA all-time assists list. He surpassed NBA Hall of Famer Gary Payton.
Chris Paul (third) and LeBron James (sixth) are the only active players in the top 10. Westbrook currently leads all bench players in assists.
The former Oklahoma City Thunder guard now has 8994 assists in his career.
