LeBron James wrote his name in the history books of the NBA last night, after hitting 38 points in Los Angeles Lakers' defeat to Oklahoma City Thunder to surpass a 39-year-old record.
He now has 38,390 career points to surpass Kareem Abdul-Jabbar's record of 38,387, which was set a few months before the 38-year-old was born.
The incredible sporting achievement by James has received praise from across the world, including from personalities and organisations outside of America's most popular sport of basketball.
Liverpool congratulate James on record
According to Sky Sports, James bought shares at Fenway Sports Group - the owners of Liverpool - in 2021 to increase his stake at the club, where he already had a two percent share since 2011.

The club took to Twitter to celebrate their part owner for his incredible achievement in the sport, and it left their fans in awe of the feat and asking important questions.

Fans of the 2019 UEFA Champions League winner showed gracious spirit by congratulating the 38- year-old, using the avenue to push an important question to the owners on the team's deficiencies in midfield.

James' milestone points did not line up with his team's result, as the Lakers lost their game similar to how Liverpool drew with Chelsea in their manager's 1,000th game.
