The Memphis Grizzlies are one of the best teams in the NBA and currently sit second in the Western Conference as they look to make another run in the playoffs this season.

However, they have stolen the headlines for the wrong reasons this season. In their latest game, Grizzlies wing Dillon Brooks appeared to strike Cleveland Cavaliers All-Star Donovan Mitchell in the groin area sparking a brawl on the court.

He along with Mitchell were ejected. Grizzlies talisman Ja Morant has said the NBA hates them after Brooks was given a flagrant 2 foul.

Mitchel accused Brooks of being a dirty player after his latest actions. The 27-year-old has earned a reputation for being an instigator in the last few seasons. In last year's playoffs, he was infamously ejected for a cheap shot on Golden State Warriors guard Gary Payton II.

The Grizzlies are second in the Western Conference with a 32-20 record but have lost seven of their last eight games.

Morant accuses NBA of hating Grizzlies

After the game, Mitchell said there needs to be severe consequences for Brooks who according to him has been doing this for a while.

Morant said their team doesn't have a problem with anybody and that the NBA is targeting them for some reason, per ESPN. Morant denied they have a problem with Mitchell.

"Anything when it comes to negative about the Grizzlies, we normally, you know, get the punishment. It ain't the same. They [the NBA] hate us. We don't got no history with nobody. We don't beef with nobody."

Brooks will be a free agent after the season, and incidents like these may make the team think twice before giving him a long-term deal.

Morant sends warning to West teams

Recently Morant sent a warning to teams in the Western Conference when asked if there was a team that scares him, per SI.

Since he said that, Grizzlies were well beaten by the Warriors on Christmas Day. However, they started 2023 strong, winning nine games in a row. They are 15-16 in the West.

Warriors veteran Draymond Green reminded Morant that they are the reigning champions and have run the West for the last few seasons, winning the NBA title four times in eight years.

Mitchell and Brooks were involved in a scuffle, sparking a mass brawl in the court, resulting in the two players getting ejected.
