The original bad boy of basketball Dennis Rodman shocked the world when he visited the hermit kingdom of North Korea, and then met with Kim Jong Un.
The six-foot-eight-inch former Chicago Bull made his first of three trips to Pyongyang in 2013 and was not only embraced by the people but also sat down with the young leader.
Rodman gained his notoriety as part of the Chicago Bulls team led by Michael Jordan, which won three straight NBA titles starting from 1996 to 1998. He was famously known for his flamboyant lifestyle.
From parting, dying his hair dye, piercing his nose, lips and ears, dating A-list celebrities, to tattooing his body, Rodman was arguably the most unconventional player in the history of the NBA.

Meeting Kim Jong Un, however, was a shocking and interesting thing the Worm has ever done in his life, per Washington Post.
When Rodman met Kim
Making the trip to North Korea wasn't straightforward for the five-time NBA champion. The US wanted to learn more about the new North Korean leader and had a few ideas on how to do it.
After their many ideas failed, they started to seriously think about sending Jordan to North Korea. Vice News had the same idea, but had to settle for Rodman since Jordan wasn't interested.
Vice News had a conversation with North Korean diplomats and it was a done deal. The 61-year-old flew from Beijing China to Pyongyang in February 2013.
He was accompanied by three members of the Harlem Globetrotters, a team executive, and the Vice Media crew, per Hoopshype.

FootballA day after arriving, Rodman and the Globetrotters turned up in a stadium with thousands of people seated. When Kim emerged, there were thunderous cheers from the crowd. Rodman was reportedly allowed to sit next to the leader.
The teams were picked, playground style, so each contained both Americans and North Koreans. The game seemed fun as the Globetrotters began their party tricks.
The team was then invited for a meal which had around ten courses, including caviar and sushi.
Kim took power following the death of his father in 2011. Rodman travelled to Pyongyang in 2014, met Kim and sang "Happy Birthday" to him, per AP.
