Most of the NBA's greatest players weren't No. 1 picks in the NBA Draft, but those who went first overall usually have a lot of pressure to become something great and lead the teams that picked them to the promised land.
Some go on to produce Hall of Fame careers while others, for one reason or another, never really live up to the expectations. 1992 No. 1 pick Shaquille O'Neal has named his best no. 1 picks in NBA history.
O'Neal is an obvious name on the list. He is undoubtedly the most dominant player in NBA history. He won four NBA championships, the first three with the Los Angeles Lakers.
The number one spot can be hit or miss. Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Larry Bird and Stephen Curry were not picked first. However, they went on to have Hall of Fame careers, per Sportster.

Others like Greg Oden, Anthony Bennet, Kwame Brown, Michael Olowakandi and LaRue Martin are some of the players that were selected first in the NBA Draft but never lived up to the expectations, per NBC Sports.
Shaq's top 10 No. 1 picks
Top 10 No.1 picks lists are always close since there are players that will always make the list because of their achievements. The former Lakers center has named a top ten list, but didn't rank them.
2003 no. 1 pick LeBron James is the first name that stands out. He will soon pass the 1969 no. 1 pick Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in NBA all-time scoring list. Abdul-Jabbar is also included in the list and has held the record for most points since 1984.

Shaq rejects list of NBA top 10 players
Sports Brief earlier reported on Shaq rejecting a list of top 10 NBA players of all time because it didn't have his teammate Kobe Bryant.
Shaq shared a top 10 list made by Playmaker and although he agreed with him getting in the top 5, he didn't like it because his former LA Lakers teammate Kobe Bryant was omitted.
The late great Bryant was named 10th in the Athletic's top 75 NBA players of all-time, with James coming first and Stephen Curry third.
