The 29-year-old went down against the Denver Nuggets on December 16, 2022, after his lower right leg made contact with Nikola Jokic while the two were contesting the ball in midair near the basket.

Before his injury, the former New Orleans Pelicans star was enjoying a terrific season. He was averaging 27.4 points, 12.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 2.1 blocks per game, per Statmuse.

Davis begins ramp-up process

Davis missed the Lakers' 122-109 defeat to the Nuggets on Monday, the 13th straight game he has been absent from due to injury.

The ramp-up process will involve aquatic pool workouts and running on an altered-gravity treadmill. This will enable the NBA All-Star to keep the full weight off his foot while it continues to heal, per ESPN.

ESPN sources say the process could take a few weeks, before Davis begins to think about a potential return to the court for the Lakers.

Thomas Bryant has been filling Davis' shoes, and has averaged 21.2 points on 71.9% shooting and 13.6 rebounds during the Lakers' five-game win streak, which was emphatically ended by the Nuggets.

James on Lakers struggles

Sports Brief earlier reported on LeBron James expressing his frustration with the Lakers' front office, for failing to improve the team.

The star appeared to be concerned by the lack of ambition by the team, to trade the 2027 and 2029 first-round picks to give him a roster that can challenge for the NBA championship.

James made a telling remark during an interview which went viral, adding that he is only focused on his teammates.
