Former NBA player Gilbert Arenas has claimed that Stephen Curry did not change the game.

Arenas said Curry's team, the Golden State Warriors changed the game due to their motion system which saw them win four NBA titles in eight years, including the 2022 championship.

Curry certainly didn't invent the three-pointer but he made it one of the most important shots in basketball. Since he was drafted in 2009, Curry didn't burst onto the scene but the 3-pointer put him on the map.

In 2012-13 the 34-year-old set the NBA record for most 3-pointers with 272, then bested that two years later with 286, and then went took it to another level in 2016 with 402.

After 852 games in the NBA, Curry has made 3,248 threes, which is a staggering record considering Ray Allen who is second on the list, played 1300 games. If Curry stays healthy and plays in the next three or more years, he could make many more threes.

Arenas on Curry's impact

Speaking to VladTV, Arenas who was drafted by the Warriors in the 2001 NBA draft says Curry did not change the game.

Steph Curry didn't change the game. The Warriors changed the game. Steph in Pop's (Gregg Popovich) organization does not change the game. So, the whole system that allows Steph to be himself and then have to conform to a system," per Sportskeeda.

When Steve Kerr arrived as coach for the Warriors in 2014, he crafted a system that would bring the best out of elite shooters like Curry and Klay Thompson. Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes fit like a glove with the two shooters.

They went on to dominate the league for nearly a decade which culminated in the 2022 NBA title glory.

Curry no-look three-pointer

Sports Brief earlier reported on Curry making a ridiculous no-look three-pointer vs the Boston Celtics.

With the clock winding down, the 34-year-old got Celtics forward Sam Hauser on a switch and put some moves on him before connecting a step-back 3-pointer as the buzzer rang in the first quarter.

In true Curry fashion, he turned his back on his 30-foot attempt before it went through the net.
