FootballDirk Nowitzki Reveals What LeBron Must Do to Surpass Michael Jordan
- Dirk Nowitzki has revealed one last achievement that could make LeBron James the undisputed NBA G.O.A.T
- LeBron ranks in the top two on many lists alongside Michael Jordan
- James is also closing in on becoming NBA all-time top scorer in the NBA, a record he could break early next year
Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki has said that LeBron will soon surpass Michael Jordan, the player he considers the greatest of all time if he passes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the all-time scoring list.
LeBron is currently second and is on pace to pass the Los Angeles Lakers icon early next year. When he does, it will add another element to the G.O.A.T debate.
Nowitzki was immortalised in Mavericks lore when his statue was unveiled in a colourful ceremony before the Mavs played the Lakers. LeBron scored 38 but it wasn't enough for them to win. They lost 124-116.
LeBron James turns 38 at the end of 2022. He continued with his excellent performances, scoring 38 points (on 13-of-23 shooting) for his seventh consecutive game with 30 or more points.

Nowitzki on LeBron
Playing at a high level for many years gives the German the license to weigh in on the debate which had raged for several years now.
According to Sporting News, Nowitzki said if LeBron passes Abdul-Jabbar, he could become the greatest NBA player of all time.
"I always say Michael Jordan is the GOAT," Nowitzki added, "but if [James] really surpasses Kareem [Abdul-Jabbar] with the scoring record, I'm sort of running out of arguments for Michael."
Abdul-Jabbar has been top of the career points list since April 5, 1984, eight months before James was born, per ESPN.

BoxingThe 37-year-old has 37,720 points, meaning he will need 630 to become the outright leader if he passes Abdul-Jabbar's 38,387 in the NBA scoring list.
ESPN projects that at his career scoring average of 27.1 PPG, James would need 24 games to make up that total. That puts him on track to break the record on February 11 against the Golden State Warriors.
