Restricted free agent Miles Bridges is set for a lucrative deal with the Charlotte Hornets with multiple reports suggesting talks are gathering pace.

Bridges was arrested in June after he was accused of assaulting his then-girlfriend in front of their two children and later pleaded no contest to a felony charge last month.

He was later sentenced to three years of probation but avoided jail time after working out a deal with the prosecutors.

However, the 24-year-old is still being investigated by the NBA and it remains to be seen how long his suspension will be when the probe is complete.

Bridges' absence this season is evident as they have one of the worst records in the league given he was their leading scorer last season, per Stat Muse.

The Hornets offered him a qualifying offer, which allows them an opportunity to match any offer sheet he signs with another NBA team.

New deal for Bridges?

According to ESPN Senior NBA Insider Adrian Wojnarowski, talks between the organization and the 6-foot-7 forward are gathering pace and a deal is close.

His Klutch Sports representatives have been in constant communication with the franchise and are reportedly working together on how the player will reacclimatize into the Charlotte community.

He was set a $100 million-plus offer sheet that Michael Jordan's team would've matched to retain hi9m but the domestic violence case changes things significantly.

In his three-year probation, Bridges will have to do 52 weeks of domestic violence counselling and 52 weeks of parenting classes and serve 100 hours of community service.

After the news of the possible deal broke, many fans accused Jordan of being the worst owner in the NBA. If he does sign a new deal, a lot more questions will be raised about Jordan.

NBA award named after Jordan

Sports Brief earlier reported on the NBA renaming the MVP award after Michael Jordan in an announcement earlier this month.

For six decades, the trophy was named after Maurice Podoloff, the league's first commissioner.

The NBA announced on Tuesday, December 15th their decision to rebrand. Jordan is a five-time winner of the award, with the last one coming in 1998 when he led the Chicago Bulls to their last NBA Championship.
