Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant has revealed that athletes use cannabis, a drug that is legal in some parts of the world and illegal in other parts, for various reasons.
The two-time NBA champion disclosed the drug helps athletes settle down and keeps them away from distractions.
In an interview with David Letterman, Kevin Durant expressed his views on the use of the drug and feels it's just like taking a glass of wine.
"Weed clears the distractions out of your brain a little bit, he said as quoted by Complex.com “It settles you down," he added.
Kevin Durant went on to reveal he is investing in Cannabis tech platform Weedmaps through his Thirty Five Ventures.
“We partner with them on content and trying to figure out ways to change the narrative around athletes and cannabis,” he said.
Kevin Durant steered Brooklyn Nets to the NBA play-offs this season, but were swept in the first round by the Boston Celtics.
The former Oklahoma City Thunders ace won the NBA champions twice during his time with the Golden States Warriors. He was twice NBA final MVP in 2017 and 2018.
He led the United States to Olympic Gold medal during the Beijing Olympic games in 2021.
