The Nuggets had a regular season with a 48-34 record and stood at the sixth seed to proceed to the NBA playoffs. They faced the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs, where they were beaten in game 5 from the Chase Center for the Warriors to proceed to the Conference semi-finals.
Despite Denver's star player and the reigning league MVP, Nikola Jokic going for ten straight points in the fourth quarter and outstanding performance in the game, Stephen Curry led the Warriors to a 98-102 win.

The team has never won an NBA championship but has a few times come close. In 1978, 1985, 2009 and 2020, they lost the Western Conference finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.
