As tributes pour in for Her Majesty, funny stories of her time interacting with sporting stars are slowly doing the rounds.
One of these stories is when the Queen had to reprimand Sir Lewis Hamilton during lunch at Buckingham Palace.
As reported by The Daily Star, the F1 driver broke protocol during a visit to the Palace, and the Queen was quick to put him in his place. In 2015 Hamilton recounted the story and admitted that it was one he will never forget.

“In 2010 I got invited to a lunch and was sitting next to The Queen. I was excited and started to talk to her. She then pointed to my left and said, ‘No, you speak that way first, and I’ll speak this way, and then I’ll come back to you.’
He added that they eventually talked about how she spends her weekends, her homes, music and cars. Hamilton would meet the Queen ten years later when she awarded him the Member of the British Empire (MBE).
The Mercedes driver has been notable quiet following the news of Her Majesty’s death. While many F1 drivers and teams have paid tribute to the former monarch, Hamilton has remained silent until today.

The Queen, aged 96, passed away peacefully at the Balmoral Castle in Scotland.
Numerous tributes have since poured in for Her Majesty, with the Formula 1 world also paying their respects now, the F1 website reported.
