Nigerian MMA analyst, Afolabi Ojabowale, has explained how Israel Adesanya defeated Alex Pereira ahead of his bout against Dricus Du Plessis in the main event of UFC 305.

The New Zealand-Nigerian UFC star will be fighting for the first time since losing his title on Saturday, August 17, in Perth, Australia.

Adesanya has a long-time rivalry with Du Plessis, and the two are known for exchanging unsavoury words.

With the bout still over a month away, Ojabowale, in an exclusive interview with Sports Brief, anticipates the fight between the Nigerian-born and the South African fighter.

The Nigerian MMA pundit explained how Adesanya was able to get a win against Pereira.

"Izzy's ability to adapt to Pereira's leg kicks and knock him out speaks volumes about his skills," he said.

Despite Adesanya losing his previous fights to Pereira, Ojabowale believes the Nigerian's last victory over the Brazilian placed him among the most talented fighters in the sport.

"This win solidifies Izzy's position as one of the most talented fighters in the UFC, capable of taking on and defeating seemingly unbeatable opponents," he added.
"I am excited about his next fight against Dricus Du Plessis."

According to a report by BBC, Adesanya has won 24 bouts and three losses, while Du Plessis has won 21 fights with just two losses.

MMA pundit hails Israel Adesanya

Sports Brief earlier reported on Ojabowale hailing Adesanya for doing a great job when he faced Pereira in UFC 287.

The Brazilian MMA star defeated Jiri Prochazka at UFC 303 in Las Vegas but lost his last bout against Adesanya at the main event of UFC 287 last year.

Ojabowale also explained why Pereira has been untouchable in his new weight class.
