- Drake has developed a reputation for supporting teams and individuals, only for them to lose
The Drake Curse is still a threat, and American Top Team want no part of it.
The MMA gym, founded by Dan Lambert, poked fun at the rapper recently after he lost big on another bet.
What is the Drake Curse?
As noted by 90 MIN, the now infamous Drake Curse occurs when a sporting team or individual loses after being spotted with the Canadian rapper.
The curse has also affected teams or people that Drake has put money on. The most recent victim of the Drake Curse was Israel Adesanya, who lost his Middleweight title to Sean Strickland at UFC 293.
Drake confirmed before the fight that he had placed a $ 500 000 bet on Adesanya to win, talkSPORT reported, but the Nigerian-born Kiwi lost via unanimous decision.
Other notable victims of the Drake Curse are Kamaru Usman, who lost to Leon Edwards after the rapper bet on him, and Sergio Aguero, who gave the rapper a shirt and then had a penalty saved as his Manchester City side were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League in 2019 against Tottenham Hotspur.
American Top Team trolls Drake
While some superstars have avoided the curse, the American MMA gym are not taking any chances.
They hilariously took to social media recently to ask that the rapper doesn’t place a bet on any of their fighters in the future.
UFC Flyweight champion, Alexandre Pantoja, Jorge Masvidal, and Dustin Poirier are just some of the high-profile names who belong to the gym.

Drake has lost another bet worth $2 million by backing Israel Adesanya to defeat Alex Pereira on Sunday morning, Sports Brief recently reported.
The hip-hop artist has a long history of betting on UFC fights, which includes most recently tipping Nigerian fighter Kamaru Usman to win, which saw him lose $200,000.
The Canadian rapper's first public bet on American mixed martial arts came back in March, where he staked an incredible £232,000 ($275,000) on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington, with Covington resoundingly beating his competitor.
