UFCIsrael Adesanya Prays That Dricus Du Plessis Wins so That He Can Punish Him
- Israel Adesanya has weighed in on the upcoming fight between Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis
- Adesanya is praying that du Plessis wins the fight so that he can punish him in the Octagon later this year
- South Africa's du Plessis is undefeated in the UFC and one win away from a Middleweight title shot
Israel Adesanya is praying that Dricus Du Plessis beats Robert Whittaker at UFC 290.
The undefeated South African fighter will take on the Australian in a main-card Middleweight bout, and Adesanya is keeping a close eye on the fight.
As noted by MMA Junkie, the winner of the bout will get a crack at The Last Stylebender's title.
That title defence is scheduled for sometime this year.
With Stillknocks and The Reaper set to do battle in the Octagon, Adesanya has weighed in on the fight by saying that he prays du Plessis wins, Middle Easy reported.
“I really pray he [Du Plessis] gets this done against Rob. I really, really pray he gets this done against Rob. I think it’s one for the history books," he said.
Adesanya made the comments in a video posted on his YouTube channel, where he discussed the UFC 290 card.
He added that despite many people believing Whittaker was the favourite, he 100 per cent believed that du Plessis would get the victory.
In fact, Adesanya wants the South African fighter to win so he can punish him.
“Dricus, if he wins, I’m gonna punish him, I’m gonna torture him," he said.
The duo have been embroiled in a mini rivalry ever since du Plessis said he would be a better representation of an African champion because he still lives on the continent.
The comments didn't sit well with the champion, who has since promised to make the South African pay for what he said.

FootballAdesanya's warning to du Plessis
The Last Stylebender is not happy with a fellow African middleweight in the UFC, Sports Brief has previously reported.
Adesanya knocked Pereira out at UFC 287 to reclaim his Middleweight title and then turned his focus to du Plessis.
The Nigerian-born fighter said he hoped the South African kept winning, so he would have a reason to beat him.
