- The Predator has signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League and will debut in 2024
- Ngannou will be a competitor but also the chairman of PFL Africa as part of his deal with the promotion
Francis Ngannou has finally found a new promotion to fight for.
The former UFC Heavyweight champion was a free agent for four months, with many wondering where he would go next.
Ngannou was stripped of the UFC title in January 2023 after he and the organisation couldn't agree on a new deal and then teased a debut in the boxing ring.
As reported by MMA Fighting, The Predator has now signed a deal with the Professional Fighters League (PFL).
The Cameroonian fighter has signed a strategic partnership with the PFL, which gives him equity and leadership roles in the organisation.
“Let’s just say, all-in my deal with PFL is more than anyone else offered,” Ngannou said.
“They didn’t just show up as a promotion that was looking for a fighter, but really came as a partner that sees more value in you as a person," he added.
Ngannou will also officially become the chairman of PFL Africa as part of the deal. The Predator will also compete in the Superfight division and is expected to debut in 2024.
What is the PFL?
The Professional Fighters League or PFL is an MMA organisation with a difference.
As noted by the company's website, fighters compete in a regular season, playoffs, and championship, much like other sports. The promotion features six weight classes, with each athlete having two fights during the PFL Regular Season.
They then earn regular season points based on their performance during the bout. Fighters are seeded in their weight class according to the points and then compete in the single-elimination PFL Playoffs, which leads to the PFL World Championship.
