The duo first met in 2015 when they fought on the prelim card.

Usman dominated the fight, landing more strikes and taking down Edwards six times. The Nigerian Nightmare was declared the winner on the judges’ scorecards.

May expected the champion to dominate once again, and he largely did just that. As noted by DAZN, Edwards took down the champion in the first round, but that just sparked Usman into action.

He dominated the next three rounds and looked certain to defend his title before the fifth and final round. In the dying seconds of the final round, Edwards produced a stunning head kick which knocked out Usman and secured him the win.

Tensions are high ahead of the third bout between Edwards and Usman. During a recent press conference for the bout, the two argued over their previous fights, MMA Fighting reported.

Usman talked up his dominance over the champion in their previous fights while Edwards fired back about his vicious head kick which knocked out the former champion.

The desperate Edwards produced a stunning last-gasp head-kick KO to win the welterweight title against Kamaru Usman at UFC 278, Sports Brief reported.

This came seven years after both fighters clashed, and in the early exchanges, Usman wasted no time in taking Edwards down as the fight got underway.
