The UFC Welterweight category will see a trilogy fight between Leon Edwards and Usman, as the pair will take on each other again in March 2023.
Back in August, Edwards dethroned the Nigerian nightmare to become the second-ever British fighter to lift gold.
Since his victory, Edwards has been touted to go on a trilogy bout with Usman, and now a fight has been slated at UFC 286 on March 18.
Despite rumours that the new champion is injured, the fight is expected to take place this time around.

Daily Mail reports that MMA fans in the UK had anticipated a clash between the two titans in the Octagon, but the hopes were dashed after Usman was spotted with a hand cast.
There were claims that UFC chiefs were in search of another opponent for Edwards, however, Usman's manager Ali Abdelaziz took to social media to confirm his client’s readiness.
He tweeted:
“Please enough with the rumors, Kamaru is fighting León next, he is good to go. We bringing this belt back to where it belongs.”
Edwards shocked the MMA world with his fifth-round KO win over the long-reigning champion back in August.
Kamaru Usman claims he remains the best
Meanwhile, Kamaru Usman has insisted that he remains the best in the welterweight category of the UFC.

BoxingIt was Usman who dominated much of the duration of the bout, before his eventual loss in the final seconds.
Usman however insisted that he remains the best in his division, adding that Edwards is aware of this too.
Usman hits out at McGregor
Sports Brief earlier reported that UFC heavyweight fighter Kamaru Usman was left unimpressed after being blasted by Conor McGregor for bringing his daughter to UFC 278, where he lost by KO to Leon Edwards.
McGregor lashed out at the former world champion and mentioned that in a tweet while watching him lose the UFC welterweight title last month.
Usman’s daughter was seated by the cage-side as she cried after watching her father suffer a shocking loss.
