FootballWorld Cup 2022: UFC Star Reveals Why He’s Not Watching the Tournament
- Paddy Pimblett is a proud Scouser, but won't be supporting England at the 2022 World Cup
- Qatar's human rights record is one reasons The Baddy isn't keeping an eye on the Mundial
- UFC fighter and Pimblett's friend, Molly McCann also won't be watching this year's tourney
The World Cup is one of the most watched sporting events globally, but Paddy Pimblett isn't interested in it.
The UFC fighter recently stated that he refused to watch the tournament for one reason.
As reported by Give Me Sport, The Baddy said he wouldn't watch the global showpiece in support of his friend Molly McCann.
Meatball Molly, as she is known, is also a UFC fighter and openly gay. With Qatar's criminalisation of homosexuality being an open fact, McCann wouldn't be welcome there.

“I’m not watching that World Cup, lad. Molly [McCann] wouldn’t be welcome there, so why would I watch it?”
Not a fan of England
Pimblett also isn't interested in how the English team do at the tournament. A proud Scouser, The Baddy said he didn't see why he should support the Three Lions, when people from Liverpool have been continually mocked by English fans.
“Why should we support England? I’ve seen a video of England fans singing ‘We all hate Scousers.’ What’s the other one? ‘Feed the Scousers’ and that. It’s disgusting," he continued.
Another proud Scouser, McCann said she also wasn't interested in the tournament this year.
“I’m not bothered about that. I’m not feeling the Qatar vibes and all the human rights that haven’t gone down there. I won’t even be watching it," she said.
Pimblett's upcoming fight
The Baddy will next take to the Octagon on Sunday, December 11. He will be fighting Jared Gordon in the co-main event of UFC 282, Sportskeeda reported.

Pimblett may not be keen on the World Cup, but superstars of World Wrestling Entertainment definitely are.
Sports Brief reported that while SmackDown is hosting its own World Cup tournament, some of the superstars turned their attention to the actual tournament in Qatar.
Popular wrestlers like Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley and Bianca Belair, all donning their country’s kits, pledged their allegiance to their sides after the tournament officially kicked off.
