Tottenham Hotspur forward Heung-min Son has appeared to shoulder some of the blame following Antonio Conte's sacking as the club's Head Coach.

Spurs finally cracked the whip on Conte following his explosive rant after they drew 3-3 against Southampton before the international break.

In the press conference, Conte lashed out at his players plus the club CEO Daniel Levy in what proved to be his last conference as Spurs manager.

Son has now become the first player to break his silence following the dismissal of the former Chelsea manager. Speaking in his home country of South Korea, Son regretted the sacking of Conte, claiming that he should have done more to help him.

"I'm very sorry to him. He is a world-class manager, we had a great journey together, I thank him a lot. I do not know what other players are thinking about him, but I'm sorry to him. I should have shown more, but I couldn't. I couldn't help the team and I feel responsible as he left the club. He surely has great ability and experience as a coach and I'm sure he'll have great success in his other career," said Son as quoted by Goal.

Son's form this season

Spurs' misfortunes this season have coincided with Son's loss of form. The South Korean was in imperious form last season after he scored 23 times to win the Golden Boot award.

This season he has only scored six times, with three of those goals coming in one match. The immediate task of Son and his teammates will be to secure Champions League football next season with the 10 remaining games.

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Antonio Conte has broken his silence following his sacking as Tottenham Hotspur boss.

The experienced Italian tactician was shown the door on Sunday, March 26, after just 16 months at the helm of affairs.

In the statement, the Italian took some time to thank Spurs fans for their support during his short stint with the club.
