Tottenham Hotspur's lethal forward, Heung-min Son, has opened up on how his boss Antonio Conte helped him win the Golden Boot.

Son scored 23 goals last season to win his first-ever Goolden Boot, which he shared with Liverpool's talismanic forward Mohamed Salah.

His goals helped Spurs finish in fourth place and book their ticket back to the UEFA Champions League.

According to Goal, Son admits that Conte was at first not keen on helping him pursue his individual goals. The Italian coach had set his eyes on qualifying for the Champions League only until during half-time of Spurs' final home game of the season.

The North-London club was leading 1-0 to already relegated Norwich, with Son still trailing Salah by one goal. It was here where Conte beseeched his players to help the South Korean land the Golden Boot.

I was happy to win the Golden Boot, but I was much happier because my teammates were also delighted. The boss didn’t consider it at first. He was just focused on Champions League qualification.

But he spoke at half-time to the team to help Sonny to score and to get Golden Boots. To be honest, I was a little anxious because I didn’t have the chances to score, but I cheered up after he said that.

In the second half, Son bagged two goals to take his tally to 23 goals. Salah also added one more goal in Liverpool's game against Wolves to make both forwards finish with 23 goals.

Son will be hoping for a better season with trophies with Antonio Conte proving to be a busy body in the transfer market. The club has already signed Richarlison, Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic and Fraser Forster.

Mohamed Salah congratulates Heung-min Son for winning the Golden Boot

Sports Brief had earlier reported that Mohamed Salah had put rivalry aside and congratulated Son Heung-min for winning the Golden Boot award.

Son, together with Salah, finished the season with 23 goals apiece to jointly share the top individual award. Salah took to Twitter to send a word of congratulations to the Tottenham Hotspur forward.

The Egyptian was reacting to a video that was doing rounds on social media of Son getting a rousing reception back in his home country of South Korea.
