  • Brandon Williams nearly got into a confrontation with Christian Eriksen before realizing the person he was squaring up to
  • Eriksen was given his first Premier League start since securing a move back to the English game
  • He recently got back to professional football, eight months after suffering cardiac arrest at the Euro 2020

There was an incredible moment during the clash involving Norwich City and Brentford on Saturday, March 5 and it all revolved around Christian Eriksen.

Eriksen got his first start for The Bees, who were the visitors against Norwich City at Carrow Road.

With 39 minutes on the clock, Eriksen found himself in an awkward situation with Norwich’s Brandon Williams, who is currently on loan from Manchester United.

Williams managed to knock the ball past Eriksen but the Danish international was unwilling to see his opponent break away.

Eriksen ended up holding Williams down by tugging his shirt, inevitably conceding a free-kick.

As expected, Williams was not pleased and he showed his frustration by grabbing Eriksen’s shirt in anger while the two players were on the ground.

In a bizarre shift of emotion, Williams instantly eased his stance once he realised he was actually confronting Eriksen, who suffered cardiac arrest at the Euro 2020.

The 21-year old then proceeded to turn the shirt pulling into an awkward hug, leaving Eriksen a bit dumbfounded.

Eriksen ended up receiving a yellow card for his challenge, but on social media, fans could not help but savor the heartwarming moment between the two players.

“Wanted to go hard on him then saw his face & said "it's not my hand that anything will happen to you oo" One fan commented.
“That awkward hug when he didn’t know what to do,” another added.
“Public enemy #1” flashed before his eyes,” said another.

Eriksen completed a move back to the Premier League in the January transfer window, eight months after his harrowing ordeal at the Euros.

How the game went

As far as the match was concerned, Brentford were too strong for Norwich, and a 3-0 victory was enough for Frank Thomas’s men to claim all three points to ensure Norwich remained bottom of the log.

Striker Ivan Toney bagged a hat trick to help his side end an eight-game Premier League winless run, and his opener came from Eriksen’s corner.

He then scored from the penalty spot in the 52nd minute after the referee reviewed a high boot from Ben Gibson on Pontus Jansson.

Toney’s hat trick was completed after Brentford were given another penalty, with Norwich getting a consolation goal through Teemu Pukki’s strike.

Liverpool close gap on Manchester City

In the other game, Liverpool closed the gap to Manchester City to three points thanks to a hard-fought victory over West Ham on Saturday, March 5.

Sadio Mane’s first-half goal was enough for Liverpool to claim a crucial 1-0 win over the Hammers.

For David Moyes, he will be left wondering how his side failed to capitalise on some excellent chances.
