A Jan Bednarek own goal in the 18th minute got Spurs going, before Broja dragged Southampton back with an equaliser ive minutes later. The home crowd booed their team off at halftime as the Saints dominated Spurs in a most spectacular manner which should have seen them into the sunset by then.

This dominance was undermined when Spurs striker Son Heung-min sucker-punched Southampton with the go-ahead goal in the 70th minute. However, this only steeled Ralph Hasenhüttl's men's resolve, which came through in the form of a Mohamed Elyounoussi strike in the 79th minute.

Just as everyone was catching their breath from this equaliser, Che Adams plunged the dagger into the hearts of the north Londoners just three minutes later for what would prove to be the winner.

Steven Bergwijn thought he'd secured at least a point for Antonio Conte's charges in the 96th minute, but this goal was sickeningly overturned by VAR after images showed that the Dutchman was offside.
