According to iDiskiTimes, Mbule was suspended by the club for disciplinary issues that were yet to be revealed, other than that he was being 'disrespectful'.

The article reported that Matthews told MetroFMSports' Thabiso Mosia:

“He can’t refuse to sign a contract, Sipho is in a contract. He still has a couple of years left in his contract with SuperSport, so there is no choice about that. Sipho has been excused from training. His head space isn’t right to come and be with the team, he hasn’t been reliable – not to himself and not to his teammates.
"We’d rather play without Sipho and finish a couple of places lower in the league as a team that’s unified, a team that is disciplined, a team that works for each other and respects each other."

Mbule, who is understood to be a transfer target of Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs, has a contract until June 2022, but SuperSport has an option to extend it for another season, according to his agent Mike Makaab.

When asked whether Mbule is trying to force a move, Matthews admitted:

“That could very well be and he’s not going to be playing for our club again.
