Nigerian striker Asisat Oshoala who currently plays for Barcelona has made the final shortlist for the 2022 CAF Women's best player of the year award and she sill face competition.

The Nigerian star has been in brilliant form this year and Asisat Oshoala has also won the award four times before so far in her glorious football career.

According to the report on Complete Sports, the Awards Gala will take place in Rabat, Morocco on Thursday, 21 July.

In the ongoing 2022 African Women Cup of Nations in Morocco, Asisat Oshoala only played on game for the Super Falcons of Nigeria and got injured.

Nigeria labored in their first game of the tournament losing against South Africa, but they buckled up and reached the semifinal.

In the semifinal encounter, the Super Falcons were beaten by host nation Morocco who won 5-4 on penalties on Monday night, 18 July.

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how Super Eagles winger Moses Simon congratulated the Super Falcons of Nigeria for their fight against Morocco in the semifinal of the 2022 African Women Cup of Nations even though they lost.

The Super Falcons played against the Lionesses of Morocco with nine women for 50 minutes and they did not concede any goal in the tie that ended 1-1 on regulation time before proceeding to penalties.

Halimatu and Rasheedat Ajibade were the two Super Falcons who were red carded in the semifinal against Morocco on Monday night, 18 July.

And when the match went into penalties, the Super Falcons lost 5-4 to the host nation who were in joyous mood after the tie.

Despite the defeat, Nigerians were impressed with the fighting spirit of the Super Falcons as some claimed that the officiating was not in their favour.
