Emmanuel Amunike has stated emphatically that he is interested in coaching the Super Eagles adding that he is capable of changing the fortunes of the three-time African champions.
During his active days as a footballer, Amunike was one of the biggest Nigerian players in history as he played for Barcelona and was part of the Super Eagles squad that won the 1994 African Cup of Nations.
Interestingly, that same year, Amunike was also named the African Best Footballer thanks to his incredible performances for Zamalek and the national team.
According to a report on Complete Sports, Amunike explained that he wants to be in charge of the Super Eagles on his own and not as an assistant.

What Amunike said about coaching Nigeria
“I’ve never coached the Super Eagles, I’ve only gone twice to assist someone but coaching Super Eagles on my own I have not.
“But of course Nigeria is my country and the national team we are all part of it and when the opportunity comes and Nigerians feel that we can add something to the national team of course it’s a welcome development.”
Meanwhile, Jose Peseiro is currently the coach of the Super Eagles and has been in charge since May 2022.
