Spanish Club Real Sociedad Announce Signing of Super Eagles Forward Umar Sadiq

Spanish La Liga side Real Sociedad have announced the signing of Super Eagles striker Umar Sadiq on a four-year deal.

Sociedad became interested in the Nigerian international after Alexander Isaq left the club to join English Premier League side Newcastle United for a club-record fee of €70m.

Real Sociedad took to their social media accounts to announce the signing of the former AS Roma of Italy forward.

Sadiq’s future had been uncertain as quite a number of European clubs jostled for his signature following his impressive performances for Almeria last season.

He scored 40 league goals for Almeria in two years, helping them secure La Liga promotion in the last campaign.

Pulse Sports reports that Villarreal initially led the race to sign the Nigerian international, but the Yellow Submarines were priced out of a move.

The 25-year-old joins for a fee of €20m + €5m add-ons to become Nigeria's eighth-joint most-expensive player alongside ex-Chelsea star John Mikel Obi.

He arrived in Sociedad in the company of his childhood friend, Nura Muhammad they both played together in AS Roma.

Willy Boly joins Nottingham Forest

Sports Brief earlier reported that Ivorian defender Willy Boly has officially joined English Premier League club, Nottingham Forest, from Wolves on a two-year deal.

The defender decided to dump Wolves after failing to turn up in Sunday’s game against Newcastle United despite that he was included in the matchday squad.

Having spent four seasons with the Wanderers with 147 matches in all competitions, the 31-year-old did everything possible to move to the City Ground.
