Former England international Kevin Davies has showered praises on former Super Eagles captain Jay-Jay Okocha, branding the Nigerian international ‘a magician’.
The Nigerian national team has produced some of the very best footballers, but Okocha seems to be among the stand-out players.
And reflecting on his time having played alongside Okocha at English club Bolton Wanderers, Davies disclosed that the master dribbler was really skilful.
Just after the 2002 FIFA World Cup, Okocha moved to the Reebok Stadium on a free transfer and that was where he created some of the most exciting moments of his career, Soccernet reports.
Davies joined Bolton in 2003 and was teammates with Okocha until the Nigerian left the club in 2006.
Both played crucial roles in helping Bolton reach the final of the Football League Cup in 2004. Davies told the Athletic:
“You’d want to be on his team in training five-a-sides. Because if you were against him he could make you look stupid.
“But he couldn’t do it in an arrogant way: he’d always have a little smile on his face (when he was making you look stupid). You couldn’t see the ball or where it went.
“He could do anything with the ball. He was a magician.”
Okocha says there was a misconception about Okocha
Former Super Eagles skipper, Sunday Oliseh has cleared the air on the misconception surrounding Nigeria legend, Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha during their playing days in the national team.
Most people believed Okocha always laughed whenever he gave away the ball while trying to dribble, but Oliseh clarified by saying that Okocha has a facial expression that looks like he is laughing, but he is actually not.

Jay Jay has continued to live life after retirement to the fullest, as he was recently seen in the midst of former footballers when they had a good time in Dubai.
He was spotted with former Paris Saint-Germain teammate Ronaldinho as well as Dutch legend Wesley Sneijder when they went for the Mega Pro Cup.
