The Super Eagles is set to begin its quest for a fourth African Cup of Nations trophy when the 2023 qualifiers commence later in June.

Joe Aribo is already psyched up for the upcoming crucial 2023 AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone, and Mauritius under new coach Jose Poseiro.

According to Complete Sports, Aribo says he is looking forward to the games and confirmed the Super Eagles’ readiness for the AFCON qualifiers.

“I’m excited. We are ready to go. We want to win the games and I can’t wait to get going.”

Nigeria will begin their 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers on June 9 when they host Sierra Leone at the Moshood Abuja Stadium, Abuja before traveling to face Mauritius on June 13.

Ekong disagrees with Peseiro on the reason behind Super Eagles’ loss to Mexico

Meanwhile, Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong has given a different reason to head coach, Jose Poseiro as to why Nigeria lost to Mexico in an international friendly in the USA.

According to Soccernet, Ekong blamed the players’ inability to adapt to the time zone as the reason for the loss to Mexico as many players struggled to adapt fully from their long trips from Europe.

Super Eagles coach, Jose Poseiro had earlier blamed tactical blunder by the Super Eagles for the loss as Ekong scored an own goal to give the Mexicans a 2-1 victory at the AT&T Stadium.

Super Eagles of Nigeria intensify training for Ecuador showdown

Earlier, Sports Brief reported Players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria have stepped up their preparation for the coming international friendly against Ecuador after losing against Mexico in the United States.

The encounter against Mexico played last Saturday would have ended in a 1-1 draw, but Ekong's own goal condemned the Super Eagles to a 2-1 defeat.

Captain of the Super Eagles Troost-Ekong explained that he and his teammates were unhappy with the loss to Mexico.
