Victor Osimhen is presently regarded as one of the best marksmen in the Italian Serie A after an impressive season with Napoli this season.
The 23-year-old forward has bagged a total of 18 goals in 24 appearances for the Naples club despite battling injuries for most of the season.
According to a report via the BBC, Osimhen has attributed his rich vein of form and good performances to his strong mental strength and the need to prove his doubters wrong.
"From the moment I had my surgery, I read some people saying the season is over for him. Even with a mask, he cannot nod the ball and stuff like that.
"Most of all those doubts are actually a motivation to me. Because I know myself and I know the kind of heart that I've got. To be able to be back and keep the goals coming is a big thing for me.”
Osimhen has made forced to wear a protective facemask since he got injured after a clash of heads with Inter Milan defender, Milan Škriniar in a Serie A game back in November 2021.
Osimhen equals best scoring record in Europe
Meanwhile, Victor Osimhen has equalled his best goal-scoring form in Europe after he netted for Napoli in their 6-1 thrashing of Sassuolo in the Serie A on Saturday, April 30.
According to Soccernet, the Napoli striker equalled his 13-goal return scored in his only season in the French Ligue 1 playing for Lille.
