Amaju Pinnick who is the president of the Nigerian Football Federation has stated clearly that it will be nice for Portuguese coach José Peseiro to make a return to the Super Eagles.

Before the sacking of Gernot Rohr last year December, the Nigerian Football Federation named José Peseiro as the substantive head coach for the Super Eagles.

However, the football chiefs decided to give former international Eguavoen the chance to lead the Super Eagles to Cameroon for the 2021 African Cup of Nations.

And at the 2021 AFCON in Cameroon, the Super Eagles of Nigeria won their first three games before crashing out in the round of 16 losing against Tunisia.

Eguavoen and his wards also failed to qualify the Super Eagles of Nigeria for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar before the NFF decided to throw him out.

And according to report on Complete Sports, Amaju Pinnick explained that it will be a plus to have José Peseiro as the new Super Eagles coach.

Amaju Pinnick's statement about the Super Eagles

“It’s not impossible, but would he want to come? If he would want to come then it would be a major plus for us because it shows that he loves the country.
“I told them in our Executive Committee meeting, are we going to have a percentage of home-based players in any of the Super Eagles lineup? Is it going to be part of the contract of the coach?''

Former Super Eagles coach decries absence of top midfielder as reason for Nigeria’s World Cup miss

Earlier, Sports Brief had reported how former Super Eagles handler Augustine Eguavoen disclosed that the absence of Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi played a part in Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the World Cup.

Ndidi suffered an injury during Leicester City’s Europa League clash with French Ligue 1 side Rennes a week before the World Cup play-offs.

The 25-year-old was eventually withdrawn from the Super Eagles squad that prosecuted the double-header against Ghana.

Nigeria have just managed two wins in their previous 12 matches against their eternal rivals Ghana and Eguavoen said Ndidi’s absence affected his team.
