There was drama the moment the Super Eagles landed in Kumasi ahead of their first-leg World Cup play-offs against the Black Stars as the Nigerian players hopped off the plane.
Ghana host Nigeria on Friday night at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi and the reverse fixture is billed to hold at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja on Tuesday.
The Nigeria contingent departed from the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja aboard a chartered Air Peace aircraft on Thursday morning.
And upon their arrival at the host country, a make-shift ladder was spotted by the plane as the Super Eagles players managed to disembark.
The expression on the faces of most of the players was a mixture of fear and bewilderment which has sparked outcry back home in Nigeria.
A fan wrote:
“If this picture had surfaced anywhere in Nigeria Airport, the children of perdition would have called UN, US and GB on how Buhari had looted their blood, converted it to money and stashed it away in Swiss banks.

A Ghanaian replied:
“If we insisted you drop at Accra and take Bus to Kumasi you would have shouted for the whole world to hear you. Accra to Kumasi is 7 hours journey be grateful Kumasi Airport is not a standard one.”

Meanwhile, Sports Brief earlier reported that Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey has sent a comforting message to the fans ahead of Nigeria games in the World Cup qualifiers.
Partey is set to captain the Black Stars against the Super Eagles in the absence of substantive skipper Andre Ayew who will miss the clash due to suspension.
