Former Nigeria Goalkeeper Predicts Doom for Ghana Ahead of World Cup Showdown

Ex-Nigeria International Ike Shorunmu contends the attacking talents named in coach Augustine Eguavoen's 25-man squad will be a major threat to Ghana.

Shorunmu, who played for Nigeria at the 2002 World Cup, admits the game will be a tough tie however he remains optimistic the Super Eagles will soar above the Black Stars after the two legs.

Coach Eguavoen named nine forwards in his squad to face the four-time African champions as he aims to lead Nigeria to a fourth successive appearance at the FIFA World Cup.

Sharing his thoughts ahead of the showdown, a confident Shorunmu told Completesports Nigeria's attack will be the difference in the two-legged tie.

“Although I expect a very tight game between the Super Eagles and the Black Stars of Ghana, however, I am still optimistic that the strikers at our disposal will be too hot for Ghana to handle.
“I don’t think they will be able to cope with the firepowers of the Super Eagles strikers such as Ighalo, Sadiq, Dennis, Osimhen and others in Europe. This is a game the players are desperately waiting for to make the nation proud by qualifying for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.”

Nigeria's attack features celebrated veteran Ahmed Musa, tricky winger Samuel Chukwueze, Napoli marksman Victor Osimhen as well as 2021 AFCON star Moses Simon.
